Some dogs require more than traditional obedience training. Our Behavioral Modification Board & Train programs are designed specifically for dogs struggling with severe or dangerous reactivity, significant anxiety, fear-based behaviors, and aggression that require an intensive, highly structured approach.

These cases require time, consistency, experience, and a willingness to work through the underlying emotional and behavioral challenges—not simply suppress unwanted behaviors.

Our goal is to help dogs develop healthier responses, improve emotional regulation, build confidence, and learn practical skills that allow them to navigate the world more safely and successfully.

Who Are These Programs For?

Behavioral Modification programs may be appropriate for dogs experiencing challenges such as:

• Severe leash or environmental reactivity

• Reactivity toward people or other animals

• Fear-based aggression

• Defensive aggression

• Resource guarding

• Significant anxiety or stress

• Extreme fear or insecurity

• Poor emotional regulation

• Dangerous behaviors that create significant management concerns

• Dogs whose behavioral challenges have progressed beyond what can reasonably be addressed through standard obedience training

Every behavioral case is different. Prior to acceptance into a Behavioral Modification program, we evaluate the dog's history, behavior, triggers, environment, previous training, and overall risk to determine whether our program is an appropriate fit.

Intensive, Individualized Rehabilitation

Behavioral rehabilitation is not simply teaching a dog to "sit" or "stay." It requires understanding why the behavior is occurring, identifying triggers, managing risk, changing emotional responses, establishing clear communication, and gradually teaching the dog alternative behaviors.

Throughout the program, training may incorporate:

• Impulse control

• Emotional regulation

• Engagement and focus

• Obedience foundations

• Leash and handling skills

• Place and settling work

The intensity and progression of training are determined by the individual dog. There is no universal timeline for behavioral rehabilitation, and some dogs require significantly more time and repetition before they are ready to progress.

4–8 Week Programs

Behavioral Modification programs begin at a minimum of 4 weeks and may extend to 8 weeks, depending on the severity and complexity of the dog's behavioral challenges.

A longer program does not guarantee a specific behavioral outcome. Additional time allows us to work through more layers of the dog's behavior, increase consistency, gradually introduce appropriate challenges, and establish stronger foundations for continued work after returning home.

Our involvement does not end when your dog's Board & Train program is complete. Behavioral rehabilitation requires continued consistency, and we are committed to providing the education and support necessary to help you continue the work at home.

Important Behavioral Modification Disclaimer

Behavioral Modification programs involve significantly greater risk than standard obedience or manners training.

Dogs accepted into these programs may have demonstrated behaviors that could reasonably be considered dangerous, unpredictable, or potentially capable of causing serious injury to people or other animals. By accepting a dog into a Behavioral Modification program, we are intentionally working with behaviors that carry an elevated level of risk.

As the trainer, I understand and accept that this work may involve exposure to a dog that has previously demonstrated—or could potentially demonstrate—behavior capable of causing serious injury or, in extreme circumstances, death. Safety, risk management, appropriate handling, and controlled training environments are therefore fundamental components of every behavioral case.

Behavioral rehabilitation is not a guarantee that a dog will never react, display aggression, or present a risk again. Behavioral challenges can be managed and significantly improved, but they may require lifelong management and continued responsible ownership.

For this reason, acceptance into a Behavioral Modification program is determined on a case-by-case basis. Not every dog is an appropriate candidate for our program, and we reserve the right to decline cases when we determine that the risks cannot be responsibly managed within our training environment.

The Owner's Commitment Matters

Behavioral Modification is a shared investment.

The financial investment covers the professional training, time, resources, equipment, education, and risk involved in the rehabilitation process—but money alone cannot create lasting behavioral change.

For results to be sustainable, owners must be prepared to actively participate in the rehabilitation process and continue implementing the structure, management, communication, and training techniques taught throughout the program.

A dog may make tremendous progress while working with a professional, but sustainable success depends on what happens after the dog comes home.

You will be expected to:

• Follow through with the training and management protocols provided

• Participate fully in coaching and follow-up lessons

• Maintain consistency and clear expectations

• Properly use the equipment and techniques demonstrated

• Manage your dog's environment and known triggers responsibly

• Continue practicing and reinforcing learned behaviors

• Understand that behavioral rehabilitation is an ongoing process rather than a quick fix

We can provide the training, education, structure, and support—but we cannot do the work for you once your dog comes home.

Our objective is not simply to make your dog easier to handle for a few weeks. Our objective is to give both you and your dog the tools to create meaningful, sustainable change and a safer, more functional life together.

Behavioral rehabilitation takes time. It takes commitment. It takes consistency. And it requires everyone involved to take the process seriously.
